Nobody Jumps With the Net Already in Place

The net gets built after. That's literally the point of the jump.
Everyone wants the leap of faith with a landing guarantee. They want to quit the safe job but only once the new gig is already confirmed. They want to start the side project but only if someone promises it'll work. That's not a leap of faith, that's some cowardly-ass chair-switching without ever standing up from the table.
Faith, by definition, is doing something without the guarantee. If you already know it's going to work out, you don't need faith, you need a plan. And plans are fine, but they're not the same fucking thing, and we've been confusing the two for years because the second one feels a lot less terrifying.

The fear doesn't disappear when you're ready. It disappears when you jump
Nobody felt fully ready. Not the person who quit their job to paint full time, not the one who started their first business, not the one who moved to a new city knowing no one. All of them had their stomach in knots at the exact moment they decided. The difference between the one who jumps and the one who doesn't isn't that one of them has less fear. It's that one of them decided fear wasn't going to get the final say.
Waiting to feel ready is the perfect trap, because that feeling never fucking arrives. It's built not to arrive. If you wait for fear to fully disappear, you'll be waiting your whole life, while someone with half your talent but twice your hunger is already doing the thing you're still overthinking in your notes app.

Your dream isn't waiting for you, it's leaving with someone else
Here's the part that stings: while you're still gathering the courage to start, someone else already started, not ready, no perfect plan, just enough hunger to look ridiculous trying. And sometimes it doesn't work out for them. But at least they tried with their eyes open, not sitting on their ass waiting for life to hand them certainty before they moved a muscle.
This isn't about being reckless. It's about accepting that no amount of preparation is going to take away the vertigo of the jump. The vertigo is part of the deal. You signed up for it the moment you decided to actually want something.

The move
Think about the jump you've been putting off until you "feel ready." Ask yourself honestly: are you waiting to be prepared, or are you waiting to stop being scared shitless? Because the second one is never going to happen, and deep down you already know that.
Jump anyway. The net gets built by falling on your face, not before.
Eighth post in the series. If this made you want to quit something today, breathe, but don't stop moving entirely.
